(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's (WASD) Water-Use Efficiency Program (WUEP) is sponsoring the "Every Drop Counts" Poster Contest to promote water conservation. The contest is open to all elementary school-age children (grades kindergarten through 5) in Miami-Dade County.
"We created this poster contest to encourage Miami-Dade children to use their creative talents to promote water conservation," said Maribel Balbin, Manager of the Miami-Dade WUEP. "We think the contest is an excellent tool to build on the development of a new ethic towards our water resources."
The deadline for entries is Friday, February 27, 2009. Entries must be individual efforts (no team collaboration). All entries will be judged on their conservation message, visual effectiveness, universal appeal and originality. Winners will be recognized in April as part of the County's Water Conservation Month activities.
