At the 2008 Fall Conference of the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association, held in Orlando this week, Miami-Dade County’s Water Use Efficiency Program was recognized with four Water Conservation Awards for Excellence:

Best In Class for: High Efficiency Washer Rebate Project

Show of Excellence for: Landscape Irrigation Evaluation and Retrofit Project

Meritorious for: Large Volume Showerhead Distribution Project
“We feel truly proud of this recognition,” said Maribel Balbin, Water Use Efficiency Program Manager. “We understand the importance and value of educating and communicating with our clients and we feel very accomplished to see that our conservation and efficiency programs are recognized statewide.”
“The residents of Miami-Dade County have demonstrated that they understand the importance of protecting our natural resources and have committed to using water efficiently,” said John W. Renfrow, Director of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department. “Their appreciation of our water resources and their willingness to participate in our Department’s programs has set a very strong, positive example for all the people of Florida.”
