Miami-Dade Board of County County Commissioners awards contract to design reclaimed water transmission line to Key Biscayne

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners recently awarded a contract worth $1,650,000 to Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam, Inc. for the design of a transmission pipeline for a reclaimed water system from the Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant on Virginia Key, to the Village of Key Biscayne.

When completed, the pipeline will provide reclaimed water for irrigation and other non-potable purposes to the Crandon Golf Key Biscayne golf course and public areas in the Village of Key Biscayne.

This project is part of a series of projects that will allow Miami-Dade County to comply with the requirements of the 20-year Water Use Permit (WUP) issued to the County by the South Florida Water Management District last year.

For more information on the 20-year WUP, please visit Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s (WASD) WUP Central website at http://www.miamidade.gov/wasd/wup.asp.
