(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Water Use Permit

John W. Renfrow, Director of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) was the guest speaker at last Thursday's Miami-Dade County League of Cities Meeting.

The Miami-Dade County League of Cities, founded in 1953, represents all 35 municipalities in Miami-Dade County. Its mission is assisting its members in cultivating and maintaining the most proficient ways of administering government for the general welfare of the residents and business in the County.

League President, Miami Beach Commissioner Richard Steinberg led the meeting and the Mayor of the City of South Miami, League Treasurer, Horace Feliú, introduced WASD Director Renfrow whose presentation highlighted the historic, 20-year Water Use Permit recently issued to WASD by the South Florida Water Management District.

The audience included representatives from all Miami-Dade municipalities, as well as major businesses and consulting firms - the questions were direct and on target. After stating Miami-Dade County's commitment to ensuring adequate water supplies for the County's growth, now and into the future, Director Renfrow emphasized the importance of the Water Use Permit to Miami-Dade County, its residents and the future growth and development of the County and all the municipalities. He accentuated the fact that the Water Use Permit is an investment for our residents and our community, underscored the importance of conservation and called attention to the future water reclamation projects.
