    The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) congratulates Miami-Dade County

    SFWMD congratulated Miami-Dade County for remarkable progress in achieving significant milestones for water conservation and water supply development as part of the 20-year Water Use Permit. "I want to thank and commend our dedicated employees for their hard work in making this achievement possible," said John Renfrow, Water and Sewer Director.

    New office location at South Dade Government Center

    WASD’s Service Center at the South Dade Government Center has moved to a larger suite in the same building in order provide customers better service. The new office location will offer more customer seating and an open environment where customer interaction will be more personal.

    Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department wins the gold!

    The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) has recently been selected to receive a Gold Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). NACWA’s Peak Performance Awards program recognizes public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records during 2007.

    20-year Consumptive Use Permit for water approved

    The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's (WASD) application for a 20-year Consumptive Use Permit (CUP) has been approved by the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District. The CUP allows WASD to draw water from the Biscayne and Floridan aquifers to serve Miami-Dade County's drinking water needs.

    Important Notice

    Water Restrictions for Miami-Dade

    Outdoor watering restrictions are now permanent in Miami-Dade County.

    • Residents with odd-numbered addresses may irrigate lawns and landscapes on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12 a.m. to 10 a.m. and / or 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
    • Residents with even-numbered addresses may irrigate lawns and landscapes on Thursdays and Sundays from 12 a.m. to 10 a.m. and / or 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
    • Hand-watering with one hose and an automatic shut-off nozzle is allowed for 10 minutes per day for landscape stress relief and to prevent plant die-off.
    • Newly-planted landscaping can be watered every day for the first 90 days during the hours listed above.
