Discontinuing free transfers from Busway to Metrorail: Effective Oct. 1, 2009, free transfers from Busway routes to Metrorail will be discontinued. You must pay your bus fare with an EASY Card or EASY Ticket to transfer to Metrorail for 50 cents. Passengers paying with cash on the bus must pay full fare every time they board a bus or train. Transfers

You must use an EASY Card or EASY Ticket to transfer for 50 cents from Metrobus to Metrobus, Metrobus to Metrorail, or Metrorail to Metrobus. When transferring from Metrorail to Metrobus, passengers must "tap out" their EASY Card or EASY Ticket on the faregate before exiting the station where they transfer; otherwise, they will be charged the full fare when boarding the bus.

Customers who pay their bus fares in cash must pay the full fare every time they board a bus or train as paper transfers have been eliminated. Transfers must be made within three hours and are not for return trips.
