Benefits of Public Involvement
Knowledge of the cultural values, opinions, and needs of a diverse citizenry such as Miami-Dade County is of the utmost importance. Transit Public Involvement staff strives daily to gain a clearer understanding of the needs of the community and how different communities use the transportation systems. This understanding helps in the development of  initiatives and services to better address those needs.

Goals of the Public Involvement Coalition Board
This group works with staff to:

• Promote events such as Transit Week, the Rider Excellence Award, scholarship awards, etc.
• Cooperate with the Miami-Dade County Speakers Bureau to increase the public's interest in transit. 
• Promote the attributes of The CrossROAD Institute to the general public.  
• Monitor the implementation of ideas and initiatives. 
• Meet regularly and invite anyone with an interest in transportation issues and implementation to join the group.
  

Role of the Public Involvement Coalition Board

• Advocate public involvement in the transportation planning process by representing public interests. PI members bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise that adds diversity to analyzing alternatives and making decisions. 
• Support public involvement in the transportation planning process by listening to the public.
• Adopt procedures in compliance with federal and state requirements for public involvement.
