The site consists of 29,000 sq. ft. on the north side of Bird Road between SW 89th Ct. and SW 89th Ave.
This project is a partnership between Miami-Dade Transit and the Miami-Dade Housing Agency through the MDHA Development Corporation.
The proposed project consists of a 12-unit, low-income elderly housing facility; a surface parking lot of approximately 26 spaces for transit bus patrons and adjacent bus stop area.
The project seeks to address the community's urgent need for affordable housing for the elderly and to situate that housing in direct proximity to transit. Additionally, the project seeks to make public transportation more convenient to the general public, as the parking garage will attract riders from the surrounding community.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in November 2004
