    Joint Development Project

    Okeechobee Metrorail Station

    Station Location: Okeechobee Road and NW 74th Street; 11.98-acre site

    Project: Elderly affordable rental housing with supportive retail for tenants

    Buyer: Miami-Dade County Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED)
     
    How Initiated: Inter-departmental agreement between Miami-Dade Transit and OCED

    Status: Project is currently in the negotiation and planning stage. The OCED is to develop and advertise a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a developer for the project.

    Financial: In 2007, OCED made a down payment to Miami-Dade Transit for the developable portion of the station site with the remainder of the payment to be made in 2008.
