No more than two pieces of luggage are allowed. Passengers with luggage must sit in the rear of the bus.
What are the fares and transfer fees?
The regular fare is $2 for a one-way trip. Each transfer costs 50 cents (50¢ transfer + 35 cents when transferring to an Express Bus). See the list of fares.
Note: Passengers paying with cash will need to pay the full fare every time they board a bus. Transfers are valid only when using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket. Miami-Dade Transit strongly recommends using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket if your trip requires transfers.
If you are transferring to Metrorail, you will need either an EASY Card or EASY Ticket to ride on Metrorail. EASY Cards and EASY Tickets are sold at all Metrorail stations. The EASY Card ticket vending machines accept cash or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard or American Express).
How do I get an EASY Card or EASY Ticket?
If you would like to obtain an EASY Card before arriving at MIA, call 3-1-1, or order it online. Please note that each EASY Card costs $2 and you will need to load either a pass and/or stored (monetary) value to the card before you can use it to use our transit system. Protect the balance on your EASY Card by registering your card. It's free. Find out how here.
To travel to the Upper Keys on public transit requires taking three buses and Metrorail.
At the airport, board Route J to the Douglas Road Metrorail station. Pay the $2 fare using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket, or use cash. Remember that fareboxes do not provide change and do not accept pennies.
Please note that passengers paying with cash will need to pay the full fare every time they board a bus. Transfers are valid only when using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket.
Exit the bus at Douglas Road Station. Use the EASY Card or EASY Ticket you used on the bus to pay your Metrorail fare. Just tap your card or ticket at the faregate and a 50-cent transfer will be automatically deducted.
If you do not have an EASY Card or EASY Ticket, walk to an EASY Card ticket vending machine at the entrance of station and obtain one. Don't forget to load a transit pass and/or stored (monetary) value to pay your fare. Because this is a new card or ticket, a full fare of $2 will be deducted at the faregate.
Take the southbound train and exit at Dadeland South Station. Make sure to tap out with your EASY Card or EASY Ticket when you exit the station. No fare will be deducted when you exit. When transferring from rail to bus, it is important to tap out at the station where you transfer. Otherwise, your transfer will be invalid.
When using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket, you are eligible to have up to two transfers deducted from your card or ticket during a three-hour period while going in the same direction of travel.
