Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) - Earlington Heights Connector

    MIC-EH Connector Project

On May 1, 2009, Miami-Dade County leaders broke ground on a 2.4-mile extension of Metrorail from the existing Earlington Heights Station to the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), the county’s future central transportation hub under construction next to Miami International Airport.

The MIC-EH Connector will branch from the Earlington Heights Station at 2100 NW 41 St., along State Road 112, to the MIC, which is being developed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The MIC is a giant centralized transportation hub that will provide provide seamless access to all modes of transportation, including Metrobus, Metrorail, Tri-Rail, Amtrak, Greyhound, tour buses, taxi cabs and rental cars. An  automated  people  mover will connect the MIC to  the airport.

The MIC- Earlington Heights Connector will provide residents and visitors with direct Metrorail access to MIA. With this project, Miami-Dade County joins the ranks of major metropolitan areas around the world with rapid transit connections to their airports.

The MIC-EH Connector completion date is scheduled for April 2012. See the photo gallery  for a glimpse into the future.
