Bicycling, a popular South Florida pastime, is a fun way to exercise. And it’s a clean-air commute, too. Now, cyclists can take a single-seat two-wheeler on extended trips anytime and just about anywhere in Miami-Dade County on many Metrobus routes, Metrorail, and also Metromover.
Select a link below for instructions on how to use Bike & Ride.
Bike & Ride Permit
Cyclists who ride Metrobus and Metromover do not need a bicycle permit. However, cyclists who use Metrorail must use a permit and must be at least 12 years of age. Security personnel at all Metrorail stations issue Bike & Ride permits anytime to anyone with a valid photo ID. However, a parent or guardian must accompany cyclists under 18 years of age who apply for the Bike & Ride permit. Complete and sign an application, give it to the officer, and the bike permit is issued immediately. All cyclists must be familiar with bicycle safety rules.
Request a Bike & Ride permit:
- At the Transit Service Center, Government Center Metrorail station, second level, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- By mail, call 786-469-5392, weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sign and return the application, with your valid photo ID attached, to the address below. The bike permit will be mailed within 15 working days.
