About Transit

To meet the needs of the public for the highest-quality transit service: Safe, Reliable, Efficient and Courteous.

To be the #1 Transportation Choice in Miami-Dade County.

Department Overview

Currently, Miami-Dade Transit records over 353,000 daily (weekday) boardings on Metrobus, Metrorail, Metromover and STS combined.

Advertising with Transit

Get high visibility by advertising your business, organization, or event on transit buses, in Metrorail stations, on bus shelter display panels, bus stop benches and more.

Art on Route

The nationally recognized Miami-Dade Art in Public Places program has commissioned and installed artworks in several Metrorail and Metromover stations, enriching and enhancing these public spaces. Art installations by artists of regional, national, and international reputation enrich our public spaces and contribute to our cultural heritage.

Civil Rights and Labor Relations

The Office of Civil Rights and Labor Relations develops, implements, and monitors the Transit department's fair employment practices.

Ms. Ysela Llort serves as the Director of Miami-Dade Transit. She was appointed by Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez in February 2012. From August 2011 to February 2012, she served as MDT's Interim Director. Prior to being at the helm of MDT, Ms. Llort served as an Assistant County Manager, responsible for the County's major transportation departments, which included Miami-Dade Transit, Public Works, Miami-Dade Aviation, and Seaport (Port of Miami), as well as the County's Consumer Services Department. Ms. Llort also was responsible for overseeing the Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust and the Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Environmental Policy

Miami-Dade Transit is committed to implementing pollution prevention programs and continually improving environmental performance to minimize environmental issues. Our Environmental Policy is available to both employees and the general public.

Over the years and under various administrations, MTA evolved into the Metro-Dade Transportation Administration, the Metro-Dade Transit Agency, the Miami-Dade Transit Agency, and is now known simply as Miami-Dade Transit (MDT).

Hours of Operation

Several bus routes operate 24 hours a day and three routes provide overnight service between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. See individual route schedules for route specific hours of operations.

Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) is committed to working cooperatively with the news media to keep the public informed of MDT activities and incidents that might impact the community.

Public Involvement

Miami-Dade Transit encourages public involvement and participation in the development of  MDT's transportation programs and services, conducting interactive presentations with communities across the county.

Public Records Requests
