At Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation, we believe that our volunteers are an integral part of our organization. We are always looking to the citizens of Miami-Dade County as our source of assistance and realize how volunteers not only allow us to reach our organizational goals, but also to assist us in keeping the pulse of our society in our hands by their integration into our workforce. Whether it's working with the children in our after-school care programs, assisting a child in a wheelchair to color, helping in the decoration activities for the holidays, planting a butterfly garden, clearing out a natural area from debris, or being involved through a specific group such as Hands On Miami, In Da House or our Teen Programs, it is our desire that the volunteers who come to our organization find a sense of ownership toward the areas being enhanced by their services.
Miami-Dade Parks welcomes these individuals as they are truly the conscience of society and the assistance every organization seeks. It is due to this that the Park and Recreation Department organizes an annual recognition event for the sole purpose of saying "THANK YOU" to the many dedicated volunteers and partnering organizations.

We would like to give “Thanks” to the US Coast Guard Groups for giving of their time to help out Crandon Park with the Natural Areas in the Gardens. This group cleared 5 to 10 feet of debris from the fence line on about one mile stretch of land. They also helped our park staff clear an area of trees that were being removed on that day. Great Job USCG Team!
