Zookeeper for a Day
|
Spend a full day working alongside zookeepers as they care for the animals at Miami Metrozoo. Assist with feeding and exhibit maintenance, and learn how they identify and evaluate their animals everyday. Participants will gain an understanding and appreciation of the world's wildlife and the role Metrozoo plays in efforts to conserve it.

Sunday Morning Canoe Trips
|
Naturalist guided Canoe Tours are offered regularly from the Deering Estate at Cutler the second and fourth Sunday of each month. Canoe experience not necessary but basic swimming ability required for the 2½ hour canoe trip along the mangrove and salt marsh communities that line the shores of Biscayne Bay. These guided tours venture into the nearby mangrove canoe 'tunnels' or go to the recently restored Chicken Key Bird Rookery that lies one-mile offshore.

Crandon Kayak & Snorkel Adventure

You'll hardly believe you're only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle as you kayak on the waters of Biscayne Bay and Crandon Park's Bear Cut Marine Preserve. Then, you'll don your snorkel gear and hover over 1500 year-old fossilized rock reefs formed by petrified black mangrove. Catch a glimpse of colorful tropical fish, cushion stars, upside-down jellyfish and other friendly creatures.

Big Cypress Swamp Tromp

Cool your feet on this fun hike exploring wet prairies, sloughs and cypress swamps. Heighten your awareness by looking for wildflowers and the animals that call these habitats home, from reptiles and amphibians to birds, mammals and colorful butterflies. This tour is limited to 10 participants to lessen the impact on the resource, so be sure to sign-up early. Bring a change of clothes and dry shoes.
