More than 450 entries from counties and state associations in 22 states were submitted for the 2008 NACIO Awards of Excellence competition.

Superior awards were given to Peter Dooling, photographer, for a series of photographs of programs and events at various parks and for a single photograph taken at Miami Metrozoo. Ruben Perez, graphic designer, also received a Superior award for his logo design for Palmetto Mini Golf.

An Excellence award was given to Katherine MacDiarmid, marketing coordinator, and Karla Echeverria, graphic designer, for the development of the Art and Soul season brochure, a calendar of arts events presented by Miami-Dade Parks.

A Meritorious award was given to Ruben Perez and Edith Torres, public information officer, for their work on the 2007 Ribfest campaign and coverage. 

The work by award winners will be on display at the National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference in Kansas City in July. The National Association of County Information Officers was formed in 1966 to bring together communications professionals to share information with other counties across the United States. NACIO is also dedicated to promoting a better understanding of the functions of county government, improving the professional capabilities of its members, and much more. As an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo), NACIO supports the programs and policies of NACo.
