The Park and Recreation Citizens Advisory Committee was established in June 1994 for the purpose of providing the Board of County Commissioners and the Park and Recreation Department with non-binding recommendations to assist the County in its ongoing efforts to improve and promote its park facilities and programs. Each of the 13 Miami-Dade County Commissioners appoints two members of the public to serve on the advisory committee. Committee members are in close contact with the community groups within their district and are able to provide the Park and Recreation Department with valuable "grassroots" information so that the Department better serves the needs of the park users in each neighborhood.
The Department welcomes the advice and suggestions of the Citizens Advisory Committee in order to help the Park and Recreation Department fulfill its mission to make the community a better place for the citizens of Miami Dade County.
