Miami-Dade Parks Summer Camp Fun - Register Online Today!
Miami-Dade Parks' fun-filled Summer Camps are being offered at its parks throughout the County June 11-August 17, 2012. Camps are affordable, conveniently located and managed by recreation specialists. The theme is "Fit-to-Play!" and kids of all abilities can enjoy sports-fitness activities, nature adventures, a Miami Marlins game in the new stadium, arts-and-crafts, Zoo Miami field trips, and more! Camps run 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and offer early drop-off and late pick-up options, too! Register your kids online today!

Matschie's Tree Kangaroo Awareness Days at Zoo Miami
Come to Zoo Miami May 26 and 27, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and help raise awareness for these amazing and fascinating animals. New FREE Walking Program for Adults 55 & Up
Miami-Dade Parks provides a wide variety of programs for adults age 55 and older from sports and fitness to arts and crafts and field trips. Thanks to our partners Health Foundation of South Florida we offer adults or older adults the opportunity to start walking for their health with the new FREE evidence based self-directed walking program created by the Arthritis Foundation--Walk With Ease. Participants will meet with a trained leader during a six-week session and receive a guidebook with tips for getting fit, healthy and motivated. Plus, you'll receive a FREE Walk With Ease T-shirt when you complete the session.
Target Awards $75K to Miami-Dade Parks Noches Tropicales Concert Series
The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department announces that its 2012-2013 Noches Tropicales Concert Series has been awarded a $75,000 grant from Target Corporation. The grant is part of Target's ongoing efforts to build strong, safe and healthy communities across the country. The free Noches Tropcales concert series held at Tropical Park, celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Hispanic music and dance. Over the past six years, it has showcased 21 outdoor concerts that have included traditional Cuban contemporary music and zarzuelas, Argentinean tango, Brazilian jazz, and a Spanish version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Heads Up: Concussion in youth sports
To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.
The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion. It's Better to Miss One Game Than the Whole Season!
