Portability - the Transfer of Homestead Asessment Difference

Property owners with a Homestead Exemption also receive a benefit known as Amendment 10 or "Save Our Homes." Amendment 10 limits increases in the annual assessment of a home to a maximum of 3% regardless of increases in market value.

Beginning in 2008 homeowners may be able to transfer (or port) the savings they have accumulated (known as the Homestead Assessment Difference) to another homesteaded property up to $500,000.

See: Calculating the Homestead Assessment Difference

All property Tax Exemption Applications are due March 1st.

    Applying for your Portability Transfer
