A $5,000 reduction in the assessed value of a homesteaded property is available to a veteran with a ten (10) percent service-connected disability.
A veteran applying for the first time must file an application for a Homestead Exemption by March 1 and include a copy of his or her VA form 27-125 letter which would serve as certification of the disability.
