    Hurricane Evacuation List 2008
    Since disaster is unpredictable, it is important to consider evacuation and sheltering prior to a mandatory evacuation order. You should try to evacuate to the home of a friend or family member who lives outside of the evacuation zones.     Generator Safety
    Even though there was little need for those generators during the 2006 season, don’t let your generator safety skills get rusty. Anyone who owns a generator should be prepared to operate it safely if the need arises. Learn what gas stations and supermarkets  have backup generator capability.

    Learn how you and your family can prepare for emergencies.  Receive free materials, including family emergency plan templates and sample business continuity plans.

    Emergency Evacuation Assistance Program (EEAP)
    Miami-Dade residents who on a daily basis require skilled nursing care, assistance with daily living, or have life-saving medical equipment dependent on electricity should register with the EEAP today!

    Pet Friendly Hurricane Evacuation Center Application Package
    Submitting this application does not guarantee acceptance into the shelter. A tentative acceptance letter will be sent upon receipt and verification of eligibility.

    The Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security's preparation for Super Bowl XLI is one of the case studies featured in the newly released publication GIS for Homeland Security from ESRI Press.     The Miami-Dade Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security is located in the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) Headquarters in Doral, Fla., which also houses the county's 22,000-square-foot emergency operations center (EOC). read more>>
