    Healthcare Facility Requirements

The Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan Review Program was introduced as a result of state legislation requiring certain health care facilities to prepare and annually update a comprehensive emergency management plan (CEMP). These facilities include:

    • Hospitals
    • Nursing Homes
    • Assisted Living Facilities (ALF)
    • Intermediate Care Facilities for the Developmentally Disabled (ICFDD)
    • Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC)
    • Adult Day Care (ADC)

State law requires that the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) develop and adopt minimum criteria for the CEMP. The law also requires that the CEMPs be reviewed and approved by the local Department of Emergency Management (DEM). For specific information on Florida Statute requirements visit FEPA.

The dates for the RHCF orientations are the following:

    • Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    • Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    • Monday, May 3, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    • Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Miami Dade DEM offers in-service training to assist private agencies with the preparation of their CEMP  and trainings are provided every two weeks.  For more details please contact:
