Mayor Carlos Alvarez welcomes U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood to Miami-Dade County

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, along with Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Dennis C. Moss, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Katy Sorenson, City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz and other elected officials, welcomed United States Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to the Miami Intermodal Center construction site.  The Vice President was visiting Miami-Dade to discuss President Barack Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and aid for transportation projects.

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) is a transportation hub being developed adjacent to Miami International Airport.  It will provide connectivity between all forms of ground transportation available in Miami-Dade County - airlines, buses, rail and shuttles - while decongesting the streets in and around the busy airport.
