Miami-Dade County is celebrating one of its valuable resources this week -- Public Libraries -- during National Library Week. The week is often marked by guest readers and special events. I've been reading to kids at Miami-Dade Public Libraries for more than four years and look forward to it every year.
In Miami-Dade, we are fortunate to have a top-notch library system. Just last year, it received top honors from the White House for excellent customer service and available resources. Library use is up too. People of all ages are taking advantage of educational, recreational and cultural opportunities Miami-Dade libraries provide.
If you haven't been to the library lately, I encourage you to visit. Bring your laptop as all libraries are wired for free internet access, or go online by using one of the library's PCs. For those who would like to use these resources from the home, thousands of downloadable books, music, videos and reference materials are available online, and even by mail.
Miami-Dade County Public Library System has never been more accessible or convenient than right now. Enjoy library week!
Sincerely,

Mayor Carlos Alvarez
