    Compensation and Benefits

How do I find out the salary of a position in which I am interested?
The information from the results of a job search includes the salary range of each position listed.  The salary range consists of the entry salary rate and the maximum amount of pay for that particular position.  Applicants are normally appointed at the entry salary rate.

You can also find the pay plan online at http://www.miamidade.gov/pay_plan/pay_range.htm.

How frequently are Miami-Dade County employees paid?
Miami-Dade County employees are paid once every two weeks or twenty-six times per year.

Employees are encouraged to sign up for direct deposit. This is an effective and efficient way of depositing pay into your bank account. The benefits of this option are most apparent when a storm or its effects interrupt our normal business routine. When streets are difficult, if not impossible to navigate, communications are disrupted, gas is at a premium and uncertainty reigns, it is a pleasure not to worry about picking up a check and making your way to a bank or other financial institution that may or may not be open. Instead of an actual pay check, employees who select direct deposit get a statement with a detailed accounting of the pay's composition and deductions.

What are the benefits of employment with Miami-Dade County?

Miami-Dade County offers its employees a large number of tangible and intangible benefits.

For those who are community and service-oriented, working in the public sector is a rewarding experience. As an employer, Miami-Dade County is sufficiently large to accommodate employees' desires for advancement or change in careers without the need to change employers. The services we provide are numerous and opportunities to advance present themselves regularly.

In addition to the opportunity for growth, employment with the county can result in significant assistance in the pursuit of additional education. In addition to a generous tuition reimbursement program, many college level classes are held at the Stephen P. Clark Center in downtown Miami.

Employees and their dependents also have access to two health care insurance providers. Additionally, Miami-Dade County's fringe benefit package includes a noncontributory pension plan through the Florida Retirement System; dental, disability and life insurance, an opportunity to participate in deferred compensation programs, paid vacation and sick days and a number of paid holidays.

For more information on the benefits offered, you can visit the Benefits web page.
