The Foundation and the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County (the Authority) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that recognizes the Foundation’s temporary need for start-up support and establishes the MOA’s two operating tenets of collaboration and cooperation.
The Foundation seeks funding from consortiums of local and national industry-related organizations. These partnerships will provide the development equity and financial infrastructure necessary to implement Foundation programs and initiatives. Additionally, membership dues, grants, and other funding sources create an ongoing flow of capital for attaining the Foundation’s goals and objectives.
CDFI Certification Initiative
The Foundation is certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). A CDFI is a specialized financial institution that services a market niche that has not been adequately served by traditional financial institutions.
As a CDFI, the Foundation primarily lends money in the form of mortgages, grants, and other financial products designed to make homeownership attainable and affordable to low and moderate-income individuals and families.
As part of its social mission, the Foundation also provides technical assistance and homebuyer education and counseling services to increase the capacity of low and moderate-income future homebuyers to seek, finance, and maintain a home in Miami-Dade County. The Foundation is a private not-for-profit entity accountable to the community it serves through the Foundation’s Board of Directors and CDFI Advisory Council.
