Description: Moderate-growing, native evergreen tree with round stiff leaves and red-yellow leaf veins. Tree produces small white flowers in the spring. It has an attractive bark with edible fruits that ripen in late summer/fall and attract birds.
Size: Medium to large (grows to about 30 ft in height)
Location: Plant at least 20 feet from power lines and 16-22 feet from your house. Full sun.
Salt tolerance: High
Watering: Water during planting and for one year thereafter (see watering schedule in "Dig In Miami-Dade County" booklet). May need to water during fruiting if under drought conditions.
Fertilization: Do not fertilize until 6 months after planting. Call 305-248-3311 ext.228 for fertilizing information specific to your tree.
Pruning: Wait one year to prune. If staked, remove after 6 months.
