Description: An evergreen with a rounded canopy ranging from low and dense to upright and open. Mangos vary in shape, size and color depending upon variety. Mature fruit is available from May to September depending on variety. Sap may cause irritation to some people. Some types of mango are susceptible to disease (Call the Adopt-a-Tree hotline at 305-248-3311 ext.228 for disease control recommendations).
Size: Large tree (20-40ft or larger in height). Can be pruned to keep size smaller.
Location: Plant at least 30 feet from power lines and 16-22 feet from your house. Full sun with well-drained soil.
Salt tolerance: Low
Watering: Water during planting and for one year thereafter (see watering schedule in "Dig In Miami-Dade County" booklet). May need to water during fruiting if under drought conditions.
Fertilization: Do not fertilize until 6 months after planting. Call 305-248-3311 ext.228 for fertilizing information specific to your tree.
Pruning: Wait one year to prune. If staked, remove after 6 months
