    Jamaican Dogwood, Fish-Poison Tree (Piscidia piscipula)

    Jamaican DogwoodDescription: Fast-growing tree. Drops leaves prior to blooming in the spring with clusters of whitish -pink, striped, pea-like flowers. Native.

    Size: Large (typically 40 ft in height)

    Location: Plant at least 30 feet from power lines and 16-22 feet from your house. Full sun. Plant away from open bodies of water.

    Salt tolerance: High

    Watering: Water during planting and for one year thereafter (see watering schedule in "Dig In Miami-Dade County" booklet). May need to water during fruiting if under drought conditions.

    Fertilization: Do not fertilize until 6 months after planting. Call 305-248-3311 ext.228 for fertilizing information specific to your tree.

    Pruning: Wait one year to prune. If staked, remove after 6 months.
