Description: A moderate-growing tree with leaves that turn red before falling in the winter. It has large showy pink or purplish flowers during the summer.
Size: Large (typically 35 feet)
Location: Plant at least 30 feet from power lines and 16-22 feet from your house. Full sun with well-drained soil.
Salt tolerance: Low
Watering: Water during planting and for one year thereafter (see watering schedule in "Dig In Miami-Dade County" booklet). May need to water during fruiting if under drought conditions.
